If you want to create a dramatic and eye catching appeal to your bedroom design, why not consider a floating bed? Basically a platform style bed is supported through structure rather than traditional box spring assemblies.

They are actually not that complicated to design and build given your style and personal preference for the look and feel of your bedroom. And just think, the floating bed will go nicely with the flying cars we’re suppose to have already.

Yes the concept sounds futuristic but the feasibility of the project is within reason. The floating bed concept hides traditional supports in a number of different ways or simply utilizes a structural approach to building the bed from the wall without floor supports … all of which will provide you with a floating bed appearance.

Some designs will incorporate white or colored LED lighting that strings along the bottom frame to further expand the feeling of elevating the bed above the floor.

So these look cool but how do i know I will not hit the floor at night?

Think of it as living on the edge every night, you dare devil you! But realistically it all depends on the construction of the frame like any home improvement. When you lean against the railing of your stairs, you might fall there as well.

There are a number of DIY projects to showcase how to create a floating bed appearance or consulting with a contractor or us could get you good tips.

Some designs, as you will see below, simply utilize a clear piece of support to replace the overall leg supports. Others will cantilever out from the wall completely.

If coordinated correctly with other fabrics and patterns around the bed itself, the bedroom can create a unique theme that celebrates the floating bed.

For example, try using your bed cover without an edge to your frame and allow the fabric to drape over the edge and hang from the edge – enhancing the floating bed concept in its implementation.

You do not want the novelty of a floating bed IF it is going to seem completely out of place against the backdrop of the rest of your bedroom.

Plus a bonus, you no longer need to tuck in the sheets!
